Install eMule on Windows 11, choose between stable 0.50a and Community 0.70b, connect Kad and servers, and fix Low ID safely.

Community 0.70b

The more up-to-date community build. The official download page presents it for newer features and fixes.

Stable 0.50a

The last official stable release: older, but mature and well tested. It remains available from the project.

Compare official releases

For a new Windows 11 installation, Community 0.70b is the practical starting point. Use 0.50a only if you specifically prefer the older stable branch.

Install eMule on Windows 11

  1. Download from a known source. Avoid repacked installers and download portals that add unrelated software.
  2. Run the installer. Windows may ask for permission because the application accepts network connections.
  3. Choose folders deliberately. Keep incomplete and completed downloads in folders with enough free space.
  4. Allow eMule through Windows Firewall. Allow private networks if appropriate; do not disable the firewall.
  5. Start with Kad and a current server list. Both discovery methods can work together.

Connect with Kad and eD2K servers

eMule can use the classic eD2K server network and the decentralised Kad network. Servers help clients find sources; file transfers still occur directly between users. Follow our updated server, Kad and ED2K guide.

Windows 11 troubleshooting

  • Low ID or firewalled Kad: check the selected TCP/UDP ports in eMule, Windows Firewall and your router.
  • No search results: confirm Kad says Connected or use an updated server list.
  • Slow at first: availability, queue position and remote upload capacity matter; a high connection speed cannot create missing sources.
  • 32-bit or 64-bit: the official community page also points to maintained 64-bit builds. Do not assume an unofficial “x64” installer is genuine.

For the remaining preferences, see the eMule setup manual.

Frequently asked questions

Does eMule work on Windows 11?

Yes. The current community build and the older stable branch can run on Windows 11, although you may need to allow the application through Windows Firewall.

Is eMule 0.70b official?

The official project download page lists 0.70b as the Community Version and 0.50a as the last official stable release.

Should I disable Windows Firewall?

No. Allow eMule or its selected TCP and UDP ports instead of disabling the firewall.
