What is a Mod?

Mods are modifications of eMule that provide new functions and changes and, in many cases, resolve problems of incompatibility.The fact that eMule is an open source programme has favoured the creation of derivative programmes based on modifications to the original eMule code. These modified versions provide additional functions that are not available in the original as well as changes to the user interface and adaptations geared towards the specific requirements of certain users. In some cases, the development of these variations coincides with developments of the original eMule, so that any user who maintains all the mods will always be up to date with the latest published version of the programme. Other mods, however, have been developed independently of the original eMule, though some of the improvements and functions have been reincorporated into the original programme at a later date.
