Installing and configuring eMule is not complicated at all and will only take a few minutes, but if you need help, this user manual will guide you step by step through the process.
Download and Installation
First, you can download eMule for free from this very page completely safely. Once the installer has downloaded, run it and follow the on-screen instructions until the program installation begins.
Click on "Next" and the license terms will be displayed, which you must accept to use the program.
Next, you can choose the components to install with eMule. The program files are essential for it to work, while you can optionally check the "capture eD2k links" box so that when you click on such a link on any website, eMule will open it and add it to its download list.
On the next screen, you will have the opportunity to decide how to share eMule with other users who use the same PC. The most common is to check "user-specific", so that each has their own personalized configuration, but if you prefer that all downloads are saved in the same folder and that all parameters are the same regardless of who is going to use the computer, then select either of the other two ("shared use").
Next, you can indicate where eMule will be installed (leaving the default location is sufficient in most cases) and everything will be ready for the necessary files to be copied to your computer in a few seconds.
When finished, the message "installation completed" will be displayed, and if you wish, before finishing you can create a shortcut to eMule on the desktop or see the list of changes in the latest version of this P2P download manager.
Configuration Wizard
Before everything is ready to go, a quick eMule configuration wizard will be displayed to help you optimize its operation.
The first thing you will see as soon as the configuration wizard starts is the "General" screen, where you can choose a username, as well as check the option for eMule to start and/or connect as soon as Windows starts.
The next thing will be to indicate the connection ports (it is advisable to have them open on the router, to avoid connection problems). Fortunately, you have a "Test Ports" button to know if everything is in order before starting to download files with eMule.
Next, you can choose for eMule to automatically handle download and upload priorities, as well as to avoid possible connection blocks by our Internet access provider.
Finally, it's time to select the networks that eMule will use (eD2K and Kad, by default) or activate Safe mode (not recommended unless you have problems connecting to servers).
However, regardless of what this eMule configuration wizard shows you, you can always enter the program preferences to modify these and many other aspects.
And now, you are ready to download files with eMule 0.50a and get the most out of your Internet connection. It's that easy!
