Download eMule 0.60a

It's been a little while, but finally the code has changes, new executables were compiled and prepared for testing. This is the first public beta of eMule 0.60a.The tests helped to fix a number of issues, the application moved one step closer to release. This is a release candidate. Please pay attention, this is not yet the release version.Internally, the changes are extensive; there are security improvements and optimizations, some bugs and regressions were fixed. All of that could be, and in many cases should be, invisible to users. The visible side of the changes should be:

  • SMTP email notifications can use secure streaming and user authentication.
  • HTTPS can be used to download server.met, nodes.dat, IP filter and language DLLs.
  • Servers: the first connection is tested as obfuscated (often, the server's capabilities were unknown at that time)
  • Minor increase in KAD publication rate.
  • The Windows UPnP implementation received changes (and needs field testing).
  • Improved compatibility with the latest versions of mediainfo.dll, including 20.08.
  • Uniform controls for data rate limits
  • Importing parts to handle broken downloads (must be enabled in Options->Extended - for the current session only)
And now, have you been attentive enough and noticed plural executables in the first sentence? This is not an error, there are two executable files, because eMule gets 32 and 64-bit versions.

On 64-bit Windows, it is possible to use the well-known "overwrite the executable" update type as the easiest way to switch between 32 and 64-bit builds or versions, back and forth.Of course, external DLLs (MediaInfo.dll, for example) must have the same bitness as eMule itself.
